  4.   Welcome to Allgood Solitaire version 3.1, a Carbon application
  5. running natively with OS X, and with OS 8.5 or above with CarbonLib.

  15. Getting Started:
  16.  
  17.  Select the Game you'd like to play from the "Games" menu, and then
  18. start playing!  There are 65 games supported now, each of them with
  19. different building rules and pile layout.  Check the main
  20. instructions manual for details about games you aren't already
  21. familiar with, or check the "Game Rules╔" item under the Options
  22. menu.  To start another game with the current game selection,
  23. just select "New Game" from the File menu.

  26. Moving Cards:
  27.  
  28.  Cards are moved by dragging and dropping them on to the desired
  29. location.  In games like Klondike, and Canifield, where cards may be
  30. moved in blocks, simply grab the top card of the block, and the
  31. lower cards will come along for the ride.  (don't forget, you can
  32. split sequences in most games).  To remove pairs in Monte Carlo, and
  33. other pair matching games.  Drag one card on to its mate, and both
  34. will be removed to the Waste pile.  For games like Will O the Wisp,
  35. when sequences of King down to Ace in suit are formed, they are removed
  36. automatically.  With CAPS LOCK on, available destinations will hilight when
  37. you grab a card.

  39. Undo:

  41.  To undo a card move, use the "Undo" item under the "Edit" menu.  You
  42. can Undo until the beginning of the game, or the last reshuffle.
  43. (Reshuffling is not undo-able, I'm afraid).

  46. Options, and ways to Cheat:
  47.  
  48.  The "Pile Options" menu offers a number of ways to make the game
  49. easier to play (i.e. CHEAT!), and more importantly, make it easier to
  50. learn new games if you haven't played them before.   "Show Pile Names"
  51. will label each pile type, making it a lot easier to learn new games.
  52. "Show Next Card" will turn on building hints, if a pile can be built
  53. on, it tells you which card(s) are allowed to be added to the pile.
  54. "Show Aces", will show you where the Aces are if they are face down
  55. and buried (as in Klondike, Yukon, etc...).  "Shortcuts..." will show
  56. you the click-modifiers that allow you to auto-play, and to view the
  57. entire contents of a pile.

  62.  Allgood Solitaire can be played on any Mac running OS 10.1 
  63. or higher.  Alternatively, it can be run on Macs running OX 8.6 
  64. and above, if CarbonLib 1.4 extension is present.  (this can be
  65. downloaded, free of charge, from the Apple website).

  70.  Allgood Solitaire is Shareware, with a cost of $15.  Try it out for a while,
  71. and if you decide to keep it, please play the registration fee.
  72. Registration is easy to do, and will enable us to spend more time
  73. improving the software.  (Upgrades are always free to registered
  74. users).  When you register, you will be given a code to turn off the 
  75. periodic shareware messages that appear during the game.
